The benefit of having an end grain cutting board is two fold, when cutting on the end grain, your knife stays sharper because you are slicing in between the wood’s fibers. And end grain cutting boards are somewhat “self-repairing” because those wood fibers bounce back into place after chopping.
For your wooden item to last for generations, we recommend that it be washed by hand. We also recommended that you oil it about twice per year with, for example, our Wooden Crown Board Butter.
